Learning without Teachers and Scholars

Shaykh Rabee’ al-Madkhali حفظه الله said:

Whoever recites the Qur’an without learning from shuyookh (qualified teachers) is called a Mushafi (one who relies solely on the written text). And whoever does not read (study) hadith, fiqh, and other sciences with scholars is called a Sahafi (one who learns from texts) because he learns from texts (only) and not from scholars.”

قال الشيخ ربيع المدخلي:

‏والذي يقرأ القرآن على غير الشيوخ يسمّى(مُصحفي)

‏والذي لا يقرأ الحديث والفقه وغيره على العلماء يقال له(صحفِي) لأنه يتعلم من الصحف لايتعلم من العلماء .
